50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
On 20 July 1969, Neil Armstrong made a descent from a landing craft, and formed the first footprint on the moon. More than six weeks before that day, on 6 June 1969, nine people gathered at the home of Tex Cooper in Pretoria, and formed a Science Fiction club. 2019 is the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. It is also the 50th anniversary of SFFSA. This golden year, in terms of human nostalgia, is special. And to commemorate it, we will be doing some special things.
Commemorative T-ShirtsWe will also be producing a commemorative T-Shirt. We will be buying a good quality shirt and it will have printing on the back and the front. This will include the original logo attached. We are offering black shirts with white printing or white with black printing. The shirts will cost R200. Please let Gail know the colour and size shirt you would like. We have shirt sizes up to size 5XL. Thanks to those who have already placed orders. The cost for international shirts is 20$ or 20 Euro(including shipping).
Please can you pay into the SFFSA Account as below. Please send a proof of payment to Ian to facilitate ordering.

50th Anniversary Dinner
Our 50th Anniversary Dinner was held on 15 June 2019. This will not replace our annual dinner, which still takes place in November, but was an extra. Because it was special. And special events took place, such as 5-minute mini speeches by club members. Awesome reminiscences of past glories and hysterical moments. The sharing of memories was greatfully appreciated by all present.
The latest edition of Probe, #180 (June 2019), is special. Comments, reminiscences, ancecdotes and more from club members are featured. This will be available for free download in the time it takes to birth a baby. For the moment, hardcopies have been given or posted to Club members. Join now for your own copy.
Nova 2019 opens on 1 April. This year, it will be special. In addition to the usual cash prizes, we will be offering two trophies. These used to be floating trophies, but this year they will be given to the winner, and to the highest placed club member (or second-highest, if the outright winner is a club member).
